The mission of the ISV is clear: to support independent education for the good of students and the public. We stand up for our members and encourage the importance of independent education. Their payment and terms may come from a premium, a registered contract or an individual contract. These vary from school to school. Michelle Green has been Executive Chef of Independent Schools Victoria since 2002. She strongly supports independent education and the right of parents to choose a school that best meets the needs of their children. She arrived at the ISV with extensive experience in managing member organizations, particularly in the health field, and in collaboration with the government. If your school has an agreement reached by the relevant authority, but has not yet been registered/approved, it may not appear on the IEU website. The previous agreement is maintained until the registration/authorization procedure is completed. In addition to public and Catholic schools, we defend independent schools as an essential pillar of the school system. We offer programs, products and services that benefit everyone and focus on building a strong civil society. All member schools have access to our team of experts in improvement advisors. We are here to guide schools in the right direction through a series of tailored improvement initiatives.

As a trusted voice in independent education, we work constructively with all levels of government. ISV is a non-profit organisation and a member of the Independent Schools Council of Australia (ISCA). As an employee in an independent school, your terms of employment can be read together through a few documents. Modern AwardsIn 2010, modern Awards replaced the old awards with lean and withdrawn conditions. Modern prices are not as comprehensive as the old awards, and although some conditions have been maintained, some have inevitably been lost. If your school does not have a collective agreement for you, your terms and conditions will be set by the corresponding Modern Prize. These are well below industrial standards and constitute only an absolute minimum, which is designed only as a «safety net» to prevent exploitation.
